MG God Gundam: WIP Part 1

So back to a Gundam…I’m still not convinced I’m good enough yet to tackle one of my favourite suits yet, so I’ve decided to try build one of the lesser known Gundam’s (and one of the more over the top ones).

I think this is the first kit with full frame and posability of the newer 2.o MGs.  Even so, the design of the armour pieces seem to block some of this posability which they’ve achieved with just the frame by itself which is a bit of a shame.  The proportions are a bit weird as well, as with some of the older MGs.  The legs are a bit too short.

As for mods, I’ve done the usual Gundam head mod to remove the head seamline.  I’ve shaved off some of the sides of the faceplate so it can be inserted without major scratching like the WZC I built.

Also I’ve modded the gauntlets so that the yellow claw piece can be inserted after the the seamline is removed.

As for the colour scheme, I’m going to change the blue skirt parts to white, and vice versa.  The bottom half of the red torso will also be white instead.  Oh yeah, the stupid clear orange hands will be painted orange with yellow highlights.

Everything else will be as is.  I originally had a plan for a crazy custom scheme, but those large shoulders are really hard to work with.

As for progress, all the parts have been cut and sanded, and the white parts have the first black coat on.

20th July update:

Four hours later and the white + navy blue layer, then pure white done.  But I didn’t do enough coats of white and the parts are still too dark/gray.  So more delays :S
Also after having the parts sit in my room for too long, some have gotten dust embedded into the paint.  It’s really bad with one of the wings, so I’ve had to sand that down and now I need to repaint it.
