This was build no.20 for 2023. In my 17(?) so years of Gunpla I’ve yet to build any kind of Sazabi. Being a rather large kit that’s also predominantly red, I didn’t want to the a chance on it until I was absolutely certain I had a method down to nail that particular shade.
Fast forward to 2023, Gunpla Son AI Paintworks sent me a Varguil to build and this was the perfect opportunity to try out that Sazabi colour scheme on it. For this particular build I used the tech which I passed off to MildCustoms to try, which is basically a red base coat, followed by a yellow highlight which is then covered by clear red.
Painting
Red – White primer, Red Brown preshade, then coat of Shine Red. Yellow highlights applied, then a coat of Mr Color GX Rouge
Black – Mr Color GX Ueno Black + Red brown base coat. Neutral Grey and Red brown added for highlights, the base coat used to postshade / blend
Yellow – White primer, then Gaianotes Orange Yellow
Metallics – Gaianotes Gunmetal
