Gundam EXTREME Vs Pre release info

One of the games I’m most looking forward to this year is the latest sequel to the arcade 2v2 Gundam Vs series.  Extreme Vs is the 3rd installment in the crossover series, and now that it’s using the latest SYSTEM357 arcade hardware, I”m praying for a PS3 port so I can play online against a larger group of players.

Below is gameplay information obtained from players who played at locations tests that I’ve compiled into one post.

Update 22/09/2010 – Pics from 2chan showing “Carnage Face” a mobile armor addon for Extreme Gundam

Update 13/09/2010 – 2 Youtube Cam vids from the AM show

Update 31/08/2010 – Added images for Extreme Gundam

Update 30/08/2010  – Added info about Extreme Gundam + operators.

Last week a scan revealed a new mobile suit that was unfamiliar to all.  It has been revealed that this is Extreme Gundam,  an original creation for the game.  It can somehow change armours, perhaps like Strike/Impulse Gundams?

Note the upside down V-fin and ‘face’ on the back of the head.  Could we see something like Reborns Gundam?

Some additional units have also been rumoured to be playable:

– Acguy
– Red Quebeley
– Messala
– Tallgeese III
– Providence Gundam
– Sinanju
– Hi-Nu Gundam

The game has been slated for release in Japan in Autumn 2010, roughly the end of September.

Navigator(?):

A magazine scan revealed support characters:

Assists:

Assists are no longer activated by pressing ABC, instead they are part of each units moveset.  Not all units have an assist.

Cost System

– The Cost system has changed back to SEED/SEED Destiny style where the is 1000, 2000, 3000 classs.  A 2500 class has also been added, and overcost system is back.

Extreme Burst:

Essentially the new awaken system

Activated by pressing all 3 buttons when the EX Gauge is full (So I guess assists are totally gone)

For a certain amount of time, your unit will be powered up.

Units will special attacks during Extreme Burst can access them by pressing abc again during the burst.

For example: Using Extreme Burst on God = Meikyo Shisui, Extreme Burst on 00 = TRANS-AM, etc.

When you activate Extreme Burst, you can recover all your boost and ammo. (So similar to AvZ series awakening)

Attack power increased (roughly 1.8x)

Defense power increased (you will take roughly 0.5x less damage)

Known Extreme Burst Attacks:

Red Frame – 150m Gerbera Straight attack!

Gundam – Last Shooting. Used as an origination similar to how it worked in GvG series, seems like.

Zudah – Kamikaze. Like shown in IGLOO, Zudah releases its limiters and does a kamikaze attack. Zudah will BLOW up after the attack regardless of HP.

Cherudim – GN Rifle Bits Full Burst. I have also heard this involves Seravee? Not sure.

Zeta – Hyper Beam Saber. Seems like it only does the vertical slash like in the show now.

00 – Raiser Sword. Seems like both the vertical and the horizontal version is available.

God – Sekiha Tenkyoken. For details read the earlier post about God.

Strike Freedom – METEOR Full Burst. Combines with METEOR on the spot and immediately does a Full Burst.

WZC – 3x TBR. Seems like it’s the version WZC used against the shelter in EW.

Extreme Action:

NEXT Dash is carried over from NEXT, so you can use it to cancel various actions, except for melee? (And I wonder if they will keep the regular BD for untransformable units?)

You can only cancel melee attacks with stepping now, instead of ND. So in a sense, Step Cancel is in, except not in the sense of the AvZ series.

Boost Related:

– BD-ing in any direction will cost you the same amount of boost. (aka, BD-ing backwards won’t eat more of your boost)

– However, if you BD too much (as in, double tapping the c button repeatedly) won’t get you much air time, as it will drain your boost like crazy.

For example, the top tier units (560/530 cost units) can only manage 4 cancels before they run out of boost.

Unlike NEXT, your BD Gauge doesn’t recover in an instant. So I guess it’s back to the old way, albeit it recovers faster?

It seems like you will be able to perform an action right after you land, unlike NEXT.

However, if you perform an action right after a landing, your boost won’t recover until you stop?
