MG Anavel Gato’s Gelgoog – Completed

This is a kit which I finished way back in April 2006, but I never managed to take any good pictures of it until now. This was also the first kit in which I managed to pull off the ‘Max Tech’ shading successfully. All colours except the yellows and oranges were started off a black base coat, which I didn’t realize at the time would 1) give the kit a very dark look 2) take forever to build up enough coats of colour over the black base.

Review

It’s been over 7 years since I’ve finished this kit, so I can’t remember many details while building it, so I’ll be quite brief. Stay the hell away from this kit.

Time has not been kind to this kit, with poorly engineered joints that become really loose over time. This guy can’t even hold his beam rifle upright anymore, with the arm just sagging back down.

Being a Zeon MS, there are very few seam lines to deal with, however there are some places which need to be masked off and painted for correct colours, being the back of the shield and the blue collar area on the chest.

On the plus side, he’s probably got one of the sexiest beam rifles ever to be included with a Master Grade kit. Otherwise, you should really just get the Gelgoog V2.0 instead.
