MG Barbatos Gundam

I was pretty high on this kit when I first built it, mechanically it feels like what the Gundam Frame should be like if it actually existed. The double (triple?) jointed wrists are a godsend for weapon poses and makes the Astray frame weep. However after having played around with it extensively, it’s definitely not perfect, the lack of a double jointed shoulder really hurts the posing in my opinion, and I found that some joints like the upper arm tend too loosen up significantly after a while. The shoulder pauldrons also really get in the way more often than not.

Also metal replacement parts for kits are never a good sign and this one has 3 available by 3rd parties, being the foot, shoulder connection and the hips. In fact I actually broke the hips in the process of posing it.

I want to say thanks to my Patrons for giving me motivation to keep me taking pictures of this kit, without you guys I would’ve given up a long time ago!

Blue – Mr Color AEUG Blue (95%) + Fluorescent Pink (5%). White added in for shading effect, finally the original colour is used to post-shade.

Yellow – Mr Color Orange (100%) Base coat, starter white technique, followed by light coat of Mr Color Orange Yellow (90%) + Yellow (10%). Some Orange used to post-shade.

For the clear pink parts, I sprayed a coat of SMS Super Silver underneath.
