April 2020 updates – “Hard times”

So.

There is a global virus outbreak currently rampaging globally. How are you all doing?

I’ve been pretty quiet over the last month or two, even moreso than usual. I’ve gone through a bit of depression, but accepted that we now live in a crazy once-in-a-lifetime Post Pandemic era where the world has shut down, at least temporarliy. At the very least, my family and I are still healthy, I’m still employed, and I have things to do at home. But it’s not been easy on me.

It’s been about three weeks since the lockdown started in Melbourne, and the intial days were the hardest on me. Seeing the supermarket shelves being bare, especially the fresh produce section was really eerie and made me pretty depressed. It was a reality check seeing how humans would act when go when things go a bit south.

It was at least somewhat reassuring that food was plentiful if you went to the local grocer instead of the supermarket. And now even the supermarket feels a bit normal again.

Normally I’m able to work from home once a week, and it’s a pretty good chance for me to mentally reset and keep my spirits high and motivation up.

But now I’m at home all the time. And I find that line between work and home blurred and the insanity somewhat creeping in, especially when work calls for a go-live situation. Mental health has never been a more relevant thing in my life. My unfinished projects taunt me as I do my job. Is it Monday? Tuesday?

Anyway, I’m done getting this off my chest. It’s been pretty rough at first but now I’m almost kind of settled into the situation. It’s not been easy for me, but then again I know I’ve got it pretty easy compared to some folks. I’m pretty thankful to still have a job and an actual hobby to keep myself occupied. Resident Evil 3 has actually released during an actual global virus outbreak, Final Fantasy 7 Remake came out a week early is and the only game not delayed.

Time to make the most of out this situation and build some Gunpla and while it lasts. I’ve probably missed out some things, but I’m out of practice and this post took way too long to write as it is.

To those who currently have a commission booked with me, please know that your spot is still secure. however please note that due to the logistics of lockdown and working from home I’ll probably be missing start dates by a few months, and that builds will probably take a bit longer.

Peace out and take care.

Sorry to hear that parts of the quarantine have been tough on you. I’ve also been switched to a work from home situation with my current job and while it can be hard sometimes, I hope you’re able to find ways to put some barriers up in your home (mental or physical) that will help your mental health recover better in off work hours. Hang in there!

I’m new to your blog but I really love your content- your guide on how to configure a camera was especially helpful! I’ve been using the lockdown time to work on my backlog as well and I hope you’re able to find the time and energy to enjoy some gunpla in the near future. take care!
