Battle it out with plastic models in Gundam Breaker

Namco Bandai announced a new Gundam game for PS3 and PS Vita at the Tokyo Game Show today, called Gundam Breaker. The game is a 3rd person action game with a “Plamo Motif”, meaning instead of fighting in giant robots, you use the plastic model representations of them.

It kinda makes sense until you realize there are different scales of Gunpla. In the screenshots below you can see Gundams of various sizes doing battle, such as a 1/60 scale Gundam fighting a 1/144 scale Gundam and the environments are actually dioramas. The theme of the game is “destruction”, referring to the environments as well as being able to destroy various parts of the Mobile Suits.

We can also assume this game isn’t limited to any particular series as we can see a Freedom fighting a Zaku.

Pity this is based on scale rather than customization.
