Bayonetta Infinite Climax Edition Unboxing

My week has just been made by the early release of Bayonetta here in Australia. I picked up the interestingly named ‘Infinite Climax’ special edition of the game.

What the package includes:

• 32 Page gloss hardcover artbook
• Game soundtrack CD
• The game on whatever platform you bought it on
• Cardboard case to hold everything in

What surprisingly isn’t included in the Infinite Climax edition is the Scarborough Fair replica gun. Instead it’s a bonus for preordering the game at EBGames or JB Hi-fi, which is rather deceiving, since all the promotional material had the gun pictured in the Infinite Climax edition bundle.

The outside box is just plain cardboard and not a slip or steel case or anything. It’s opens at the top with a flap, which is kinda annoying. Also, the ‘Xbox360’ header is printed straight onto the box which kinda ruins the look, unlike the PS3 one which blends in with the rest of the artwork.

Inside there’s a standard retail copy of the game, again, no special packaging, slip case or steelbook.

The artbook is pretty standard, but the art inside is pretty nice.

The soundtrack comes in a cardboard slipcase and has 6 tracks. Only a drop in the water compared to the 3 or so CDs the Bayonetta OST is!

The bonus gun comes in a separate cardboard box.

The gun itself is fairly heavy and doesn’t feel plasticy. What does let it down its the complete arse of a paintjob they did on it, with the gold highlights fading all over the place and sometimes running out of the lines.

While quite nice for a preorder bonus item, I still believe it should’ve been a standard inclusion with the Climax edition instead. The lowest price right now for this is $115 at JB Hifi, with the standard edition being $78 at BigW. Without the gun, I’d say the Climax edition by itself isn’t really worth the extras, since all you’re essentially getting is an extra cardboard box, an artbook, and soundtrack for $25ish extra dollars.
