Stage 11 – That Thing Has Two Faces!

More upgrades for Mazinger Z, who’s is now the most upgraded in my crew.

Stage 11: That Thing Has Two Faces!

 

The team starts in the bottom right corner of the map.  I end up deploying the same team as I had last mission.

 

12 Gunmen appear in total, surrounding the team.  Viral spawns on the cliff furthest away.  The SR Point is to defeat all enemies within 4 turns.

 

Oh yeah I forgot to mention.  Kamina also spawns in Gurren, but he’s not controllable for the time being.

 

After the first or second kill in the enemy phase, an event….

 

3 enemies end up flanking Gurren…

 

Kamina calls out for Simon and he appears in Lagann.  Kamina then takes out 2 of these guys.

 

Turn 2.

 

I’d like to mention that Daiguard has to be made out of paper or something, because for a Super Robot, the guy can’t take any punches.

 

Setsuna gets a token hit on Viral, but only does 600 out of his 15,000.

 

However, this causes an event in which he moves over to the left side.   Simon and Kamina chase after him.

 

GURREN LAGANNN

He has some decent attacks, but all of his attacks use EN which kinda sucks.

 

Let’s take a look at his Full Drillize attack.

 

End of turn 2.

 

Turn 3.  Only 3 Gunmen remain as well as Viral.

 

Hey look, I got a drill too!

 

Killing Viral causes a whole bunch of Invaders to show up.  They’re not exactly well placed either.  Since the SR point hasn’t popped yet, I’m guessing these guys count towards it 🙁

 

Here’s my placements at the end of turn 3.  I think it should be okay, but what sucks is that there is a bunch of my guys stuck in the middle of the map doing nothing.

 

Fuck Mazinger is hardcore.

 

 

I still can’t get over his photonic beam, 1-7 range and does like 8000 damage, effectively one shotting all these invaders.  He has seperate animations for ground-ground and ground-air.  Makes me wonder if he has an air-ground as well?

Kouji at level 12 learns Invincible.  Where’s his Great Wall seishin at yo?

 

I guess the great thing about Gurren Lagann is that he’s awesome at tanking these Invaders, even better than Mazinger.  Each attack only does a measly 500 damage to him.

 

Turn 4 and there’s only 7 invaders left.  Hopefully I won’t even need to go into the enemy phase to finish this off.

 

I manage to get the 130 morale for God Mars transformation as well.  Damn he has some trippy attacks (though not as trippy as Baldios).   Still, long lost brother to Sanger?

 

CHESTOOOOOO

 

You can’t see it, but he’s crying robot tears right now.

 

I get the SR point in my turn, with a few units to spare as well.  God bless Setsuna’s Continuous Attack skill.

 

Tips for this stage

Try to land a hit on Viral as soon as possible so you can trigger the Gurren Lagann event.

Be aware that once you defeat Viral (or possibly the inital enemies) the invaders will show up.  Try to plan your units so that they are close to a group when they show up so you can attack on the same turn.
