After 13 years, the end is near for Sony’s flagship console of the previous generation. Sony Computer Entertainment  have recently announced that the PlayStation 2 will finally be discontinued in Japan.

Originally launching on 4th March 2000, the console has moved over 150 million units since. While there’s no announcement from SCEA or SCEE yet, you can probably expect something official in the near future.

Compared to the consoles of this generation, my launch PS2 is still going strong after 12 years.  The PS2 gave me  many great memories such as:

  • Metal Gear Solid 2
  • Metal Gear Solid 3
  • Final Fantasy X
  • Super Robot Wars Impact
  • Super Robot Wars MX
  • Super Robot Wars Alpha series
  • Super Robot Wars Z
  • Kaido Battle
  • Kingdom Hearts
  • Gundam VS series
  • Gran Turismo
  • Initial D
  • Winning Eleven
  • Devil May Cry
