Marvel vs Capcom 3 Special Edition Unboxing

It’s Mahvel Baybee!

For some reason, Capcom only decided to release the special edition of MvC3 in the States, so I had a copy ordered from Gamestop USA a while back.

Anyway, the special edition includes:

  • Steelbook case
  • Fate of Two worlds comic
  • Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath DLC
  • One month access to Marvel Digital

Unboxing after the jump.

The outer slipcase has an outline of one of the promo artworks for the game on it.

The steelbook has slipcase art, but in full colour.  I wish they’d picked one of the Shinkiro arts instead, because X-23 looks totally hideous on the front.

Inside the steelbook there are 2 more pieces of artwork.

The comic itself comes shrinkwrapped to the back of the steelbook and is the same size as the DVD case. You can see full a full scan of the comic itself in the gallery below, but basically the comic contains a short prelude to the story of the game, as well as various promotional and fan art. The extra DLC codes are printed on the back of the comic. For the Xbox version, you have to sign up to redeem the codes on site, then the XBL codes will be emailed to you on the 15th of March when Jill and Shuma are released.  Apparently on PS3, the codes can  be entered straight onto PSN.

As for the Marvel subscription, apparently you have to actually sign up and purchase a membership before you can use the codes, which is a bit dissappointing.

Preordering from Gamestop also nets you some character card/movelists/decals of Ryu, Dante, Deadpool and Wolverine.  On one side of the card is character, on the other side is a very short move list.  Why have Dante share a card with Deadpool when he has the most moves in the game?

While not the best special edition in terms of inclusions, the fact that it was only available in the US already makes it pretty rare.  As a long time fan of Capcom games, I wouldn’t be caught dead without this!
